She walked silently through the woods at night. Her nose and eyes searching for prey, her ears listening for danger. Cast out of her family tribe as soon as she was weened off of the milk of her replacement mother. Her father was a blue leopard, her mother had been a white tiger with light blue stripes. As soon as Ningai had been born her mother was killed and she and her brother where set outside for crows to feed on. Her brother had died from the cold. But not Ningai, having survived the night they took her in thinking she was worthy to live. They gave her to a nursing queen. For six months she was cared for but even though she was given food and a warm place to sleep she was an outcast. Which is why she guessed they had called her Ningai which in her tribes language meant Outcast. Once kicked out of her tribe Ningai had to learn fast or die. It took her a week to learn how to take down small prey like mice, squirrels and rabbits. She fed on those for months to small to take on the bigger prey. Now Ningai was two years old and had more then proven herself. She was strong and beautiful. She was a combination of her parents. Her mothers white pelt, green and light blue stripes, her fathers green eyes and darker blue spots. The end stripes melded a little with the darker blue. A twig broke and Ningai froze, her ears tilted forward and she scented the air. Gazelle, she licked her lips and crouched and slowly began to make her way towards the gazelle. There it was, she spotted it about ten tail lengths from her. She crawled forward freezing not moving a inch when it looked up. Finally she was close enough and she leaped, as she leaped she let out a loud roar. Her claws sank into it's back. It struggled but Ningai was stronger. After a few moments she managed to pull it down and sink her large fangs into it's neck killing it. During the struggle she had forgotten to look for danger and had no idea that she was being watched as she finished it off.

Slate It was a good night. He wasn't fond of the night, usually, but the breeze was invigorating and the stars lovely. He'd woken up to the sounds of something, he wasn't sure what, in the forest, and he'd snuck away from the herd to go meet them. He was out and about when he saw the first flash of blue. Not the dull blue of a blue roan Kylo, but a brighter blue accompanied by white. He froze. That screamed predator. Only a predator could afford to have that kind of coloration, he'd been taught. He inched about through the undergrowth, unseen. He could get a better view from here - what was...? Green eyes on a white and blue mammal of some sort. Those teeth could tear right through the chinks in scales. He shuddered. The predator posed for a pounce. No, the gaz- eughhhhhh he couldn't bear to watch that. But an idea occurred to him. This predator was probably full of gazelle now (;-, so maybe he could approach it safely? Befriend it? Or die. Who knows how much this thing eats. He'd never seen a thing like it, and he took that as good. Having a cool and unique predator on your side would be good, right? Yeah. And his spikes had to be at least somewhat intimidating. He poked his head up out of the undergrowth, then the rest of him, approaching boldly and with a grin. "Yo," he remarked. He couldn't even see it that well, but this would go great.(you have permission to attack this goof, btw, he's a veeeery scary herbivore with reptile armor. just use general courtesy and write everything as an attempt)

Ningai began to feast on the gazelle as soon as it was dead. Her mouth and paws stayed with it's blood. She loved gazelle meet it was her favorite thing to eat. They where small and it usually took two for her to fill up on but this one was larger then usual it was a male and males where always bigger so it would fill her up mostly and she shouldn't have to eat again until tomorrow night. As she reached to take another bight she heard the steps of something large approaching, a deep growl came from her throat warning anyone who tried to take her kill from her. As it got closer and said you she spun around baring her large fangs at... at... what was that? Her mouth hung open as she stared at it. She had never seen anything like that before. It was covered in scales and spikes. She imagined attacking and killing it for a minute then thought better of it. Those spikes could do some serious damage to her and could possibly even kill her. It wasn't worth the risk even if she would get enough meet from it to last a week. "Anata wa nanimonodesu ka? Anata wa nanrakano kimyōna tokagedesu ka?" Seeing the creature didn't seem to understand her language she cleared her throat and began to speak again in a language she learned after being banned from her tribe. "What are you? Are you some kind of strange lizard? All the lizards I've seen are tiny though, so you must be some kind of mutation? You sure are strange looking." Ningai's tongue ran around her mouth trying to clean herself up a bit she began to lick her paws of the blood. "Take one step towards my kill and I'll kill you. I hunted it, I took it down and killed it only I get to eat it Rikai sa reta?" She reverted back to her tribes language to ask the last question as she asked if he understood. It was hard using this language when she was so used to speaking her tribe language. She rarely talked to other beasts, and she often talked to herself just to hear the sound of her tribes language which she so missed.

He stretched a little, he neon green stripes dancing over his muscled physique. His green eyes were locked on his prey, a gazelle, he came at it from the side, silently stalking his prey. Flexing his claws he crouched to pounce, tail swishing gently from side to side, sweeping at the undergrowth. He prepared to leap when a flash of blue and white jumped at it with all the grace of a beetle and let out a loud roar. The roar reverberated around his mind for a while when suddenly it clicked, that reject Ningai. A surge of anger took his mind by surprise and he supressed it. Ningai, deemed an outcast by her own people, it was even her name. Grack, deemed an oucast by his own people, but they celebrated it, he was talented and ruthless, King was his name. He stalked around to Ningais back when a large beast appeared. A Kylo. Hmmm, lets see how the reject reacts to this... "Take one step towards my kill and I will kill you" an empty threat he had no doubt. "aga rār, sa e lelahbeg. Selanata dagen Ningai" (Good kill, for a reject. Hello again Ningai) He greeted her in a soft condecending tone. Childhood companions, but he had been 6 months older than her and was forced to babysit her, he celebrated greatly when she was cast out. He stalked his way closer to her, turning his head slightly to the Kylo to give it a quick grin, all his teeth on show. His keen eyes scanned Ningais body, the wilderness had treated her well, she was unlike the fat, lazy females back home, waiting for their males to bring them home prey. ((#BeetlesHaveNoGrace))

Ooookay. So maybe he hadn't made the best first impression. He didn't blame it - her - he was a big thing with spikes. Made sense enough for her to be aggressive. She started rattling off unfamiliar phrases, and his grin turned into a look of confusion. The heck...? Ooh, ooh, now she was speaking his language! Did she know a lot of languages? That would be really cool! His grin perked right back up again. "I'm a Kylo beast! Lizards are cool. I kind of wish we were a kind of lizard. Maybe we are. I've never seen anyone like you, either, though. What are you?" He talked a little quickly, and with much expression, but ended off with a grin again. Charisma was a virtue, he always thought. But did she really think he was going to steal the meat (;-? She really didn't know what Kylo beasts were, huh? "Iwon'tstealanythingIpromise!" he said very quickly, some of the words blending together. Eep. Those fangs were terrifying and he did NOT want to get on the wrong side of her. She didn't even know what 'rikai sa reta' meant. He figured maaaaybe it'd be better to say nothing about it lest he say something wrong. He had a foot in the air in the universal 'hey chill' pose, and a nervous grin still plastered on. Scary lady = tread carefully. Orange orbs looked with fear and the adrenaline of meeting someone new into green ones, laced in toxins.Wait a second, who was that?
A black and green male of... a similar species? The same species? was approaching. He let out an involuntary 'eep' at the sight of all his teeth. Black and bright green. He was going to meet his end to that guy. Terrified, he kept his gaze on the male, who was speaking the same gobbledegook, and tried not to look threatening. Hard, with all those spikes. Oh dear.(goofball 101 - never stop being happy except when you're gon die) @firefly, Inky

Ningai continued to clean her paws as she waited for this strange beast to speak up, but what she heard was not the strange language she had learned but her own aga rār, sa e lelahbeg. Selanata dagen Ningai it had come from behind her. Why did the voice sound so familiar? Once more she launched to her feet and spun around baring her fangs. Anyone from her tribe would try and kill her most likely. She hadn't survived in the wild for a year and a half on her own just to be killed now. "Watashi Grackwa koko no buzoku no hitori ni sōgū suru to wa omowanakatta. (greetings Grack I was not expecting to run into one of the tribe here)" After a minute she decided to sit down to make him think he didn't frighten her or make her nervous. To prove it she licked her paw and began to clean her face.
What are you it had come from the strange creature that had said it was a Kylo. She had heard of those strange beasts but had never seen one before. "Watashi wa nanideshou... What am I? I am neither tiger nor leopard. Cast out of the Tiger tribe banned from the Leopard tribe. I am Ningai, I am Outcast! Does that answer your question beast of the Kylo Tribe?"

The Kylo beast locked eyes with him, he could smell the waves of terror rolling off of it. A half snarl half chuckle escaped his maw. Lehabeg had heard his voice and shot around, baring her fangs at him Watashi Grackwa koko no buzoku no hitori ni sōgū suru to wa omowanakatta. she then sat down infront of him, she had some nerve. "Not changed I see lehahbeg, the hunting talent of a beetle and rude to your superiors", he let the insult hang in the air. She then continued to answer the Kylo beasts questions. "No, she is a reject, a "lehahbeg". May I ask your name? It would be rude of me not to. Oh and I am Grack" he directed this at the Kylo, one of them would make a valuable ally if he treated it right.

The gobbledegook made him a little nervous. What were they even saying? Something or other with a tone that was positively dripping with hatred. The predator answered his question in regular speech, at least. Neither tiger nor leopard...? Oh. That would explain a lot. For example, the mesh of markings on her body, which he might have been able to identify better in more light. He didn't have night vision, what herbivore would? But either way, why would she have been cast out and banned from her tribes? He thought of the herd sleeping not far from here. They wouldn't cast somebody out! Though they might be a little mad, he realized, if they knew he'd attracted the notice of two predators. But not if they were friendly, right? He could still befriend them! He just had to be his regular, goofy, charming self! And he could start by calling the blue-and-white predator Ningai, as was her proper name. "Yeah, actually, thanks! Nice to meet you, Ningai!" He laid down his foot, slowly (it was getting tired up there and maybe they were friends now or something).
He stopped with the excited-goof grin, but gave an amiable smile to Ningai all the same. It disappeared at the sound of a snarly thing. For the love of spikes okay put the paw back up and DO NOT THREATEN THE GREEN AND BLACK ONE. He did NOT want to die. He wasn't sure why this one called her lehahbeg instead of Ningai. He insulted her in the same sentence, though! Rude. Rude andddddd SCARY. He got the nervous grin back. Habit. He could see every fang as he spoke. Lehahbeg was the word for reject? He gave a quizzical look to Ningai. The heck was going on here? More importantly, he was asked his name. He couldn't afford to mess this up - it was an opportunity to prove himself as a cool friend! He puffed up as he spoke. "I'm Slate, freckled forest Kylo at your service! A pleasure to meet you also, Grack!"(terrifying goof) @firefly , Inky

Ningai's lips curled up so her fangs showed as Grack continued to insult her calling reject. "Just because my mother was a tiger and my father a leopard does not make me a reject no matter what the tribe thinks Zankokuna (cruel one). Besides if I had the hunting capability of a beetle then how have survived out here in the wild since the tribe chased me away when I was only six months old? Unlike you I had no one to teach me to hunt I had to teach myself "Standing up Ningai slowly strode towards the Kyo, she had a bad feeling he might attack the poor creature if it spoke wrong. He would just get himself killed but he would probably kill the beast as well. On the other hand that might not be to bad. The Kyro killing one of the tribesmen. "Ha, Jibun igai no dareka no sābisu de anata no yō ni Grack (like your at the service of anyone but yourself Grack)"Ningai blinked no one had ever told her it was nice to meet her, she had always been shunned because of her strange pelt. She gave a nod of her head to him. "Well Slate it is nice to meet you." As she spoke she continue to prowl closer to him until she was right beside him. She whispered so only Slate and she could hear. "Keep your guard up Grack is not to be trusted Slate, do not trust him." She then laughed as if she said something funny to try and throw Grack off.

A pleasure, Slate he responded to the Kylo, a genuine smile lit up his face, he couldn't help it, Slate was so... charismatic. Grack chuckled to himself as the female bared her teeth at him then continued into a long and ridiculous rant calling him Zankokuna. He sat down besides Slate and answered "Ahhhh but lahahbeg! It does make a you reject for you have been rejected! And you survive in the same way a beetle does, scavenging and making feeble attempts at being self sufficient. Them old fools taught me nothing, they were stupid and lazy, I for one was against throwing you out but the council was against me. Oh and thanks for the compliment" he alluded to the term Zankokuna as a compliment, he liked it, it sounded powerful. Ningai strode towards Slate and told him he was at the sevice of no one but himself. He gave a sharp laugh "That is where you lie lehahbeg, my service is given to those who I deem worthy" a warm smile was directed at the Kylo, he really liked the guy. As Ningai got closer to Slate he stood, and murmered into the Kylo beasts ear, almost inaudibley but so only he could hear "I wouldn't trust her, she has not served any but herself for many a year, her loyalty is oit of practise". Grack lowered his body, ready to protect Slate at all costs, when the reject murmered something probably about not trusting him. He stood up abruptly and gave a hurt look to Ningai holding a paw to his heart "Uhh rude much"

He flinched at the sight of Ningai's fangs, but then frowned. She was good at defending herself, but... she sounded resentful. That wasn't a good look for anyone. He had a welcoming and happy herd, but she'd had to stay out there all alone. Was she sad, maybe? Sadness could just as quickly become anger, and anger into festering hatred. None were any better than the last. He wanted to help - but he could only stand and watch to the side until he was at least a little sure he wouldn't be killed. Dead was also not a good look on anyone, especially him. He stiffened as Ningai strode toward him. She hadn't been the happiest camper so far, he was 99.9% sure she wasn't coming over to have a warm embrace and sing the song of Mal. She said something bitterly to Grack (that's it, he was learning that language as soon as he could) and looked a little surprised at his greeting. What? Had he done something wrong? No, she just said it was nice to meet him also. And Grack said it was a pleasure, and he even saw a smile from the male! He grinned again. Grack taking a walk closer, sitting down next to him, did not exactly put him at ease, however. He wasn't sure what to think of that. Now Ningai stood close enough to touch, and he was a little apprehensive about that but not much now that she'd greeted him. Unless he was being calmed for the kill. His spikes felt especially dangerous right about now, and he stilled his tail from lashing about with much effort. He heard a remark from Grack, to his left. He shuddered. All of it was in perfectly understandable language, but he wasn't sure he'd wanted to hear that. Not that he knew what compliment he was talking about, obviously, but it had a chilly ring to it. And the sharp laugh he let out was bitter as well. He nearly jumped right out of his skin. He was very, very jumpy today, it seemed. As he turned to look at the tiger, he nervously smiled back. He was pretty happy that at least one of these two liked him, but they didn't seem to like one another much, and it make him extremely nervous. Espeeecially when they could both kill him at a moment's notice. He took note of the murmuring warning he was given, but he really did want to hear the 'lehahbeg' out. Her words were, essentially, the same as his. Who would he trust...? Both of them he wanted, badly, to trust. Grack took the remark badly (he'd heard that?!) and he tried to calm them down with a nervous grin once more. "Okay, not to scoff at tribal meregat'l here, but juuust saying that I would very much appreciate it if you guys didn't kill each other in front of a kuchlaguf'bos thanks?" He fidgeted a bit, talked fast as was customary, and accidentally started speaking bits of Wam'tu by accident. Nervous, heck yeah. (I like putting little hints of language in, and now seems like a good time to start doing that out of nervous habit) @firefly , Inky

Ningai was becoming very angry with Grack, why couldn't he have just stayed with the tribe and left her to be. For the past two years she had been so happy. Yes she was alone and had served only herself but that wasn't her fault. "No it makes me a reject in the eyes of the tribes. And the Buzoku (tribes) are not always right. What matters is not what you or the tribes believe but what I believe. And I have never once scavenged not since I was first chased out of the tribe territory at six moons. And even then I learned how to hunt small creatures withing a week." Wait.... did he say he had been against throwing her out? No, no that wasn't possible she had been shunned by all for as long as she could remember. She shook her head "lies all lies Grack, no one once stood up for me, no one in the tribe cares for anyone but themselves I learned that at an early age." She was confused her fur stood up and her teeth where slightly bared but in her eyes she was trying to figure things out there was no anger or hatred in them only confusion. "I have only served myself because I had no one else can you really blame me for that Surēto?""Meregrat'l? Does that mean fight? Kuchlaguf'bos? Such strange language spiked one, I guess this must be what it feels like for you to hear us talking in our tribal language." Maybe she should back down for now, she didn't want Slate to become harmed if the two where to fight. "Yes for now lets call it a truce until we can settle this where no one else will get hurt." With that she strolled back to the kill she had made before either had shown up and ripped off a large chunk and began eating. She was hungry and nothing was going to stop her from eating.

Grack ignored the meaningless rubbish she said. But then he growled in annoyance "I wanted you to stay, you were-are unique, you could have put those racist g'ròtle in their places. The fat cretins thought me insane, I was cast out for 'being possesed by the she-devil'" a harsh laugh crawled past his lips. He cast his eyes to the floor and scowled at it, he was often considered perfect but he needed her trust and apparently opening up about traumatic experiences helped in this department. He murmered a soft "No" to her next words and listened keenly to her questioning Slate who had nervously spoken in his peoples language. I need to learn this language Grack thought, he was fluent in Dwarvish from his time with the foxes and knew a bit of Rockish from an old companion.

He let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding as Ningai decided to call it a truce. She'd spoken of his language, and he snorted. "Actually, meregat'l means politics. But they're often the same thing either way, aren't they? And kuchlaguf'bos means bystander," he said - a lot more offhandedly than he felt. He did manage to avoid a wince as she went back to eating. And avoided imagining his body in the place of that gazelle. He did not need that imagery in his head while he conversed with dangerous predators in a casual manner. Now that the atmosphere was less tense, he had to think of a way to make friends with them. He was going to avoid Ningai while she was eating - that hadn't ended up well last time, and he was a dedicated herbivore - so he might as well talk to Grack a little.
He folded his legs underneath him, and sat down with a deep exhalation. "Well," he remarked to nobody in particular, "That was certainly an experience. One that I would really appreciate not having again." Nevertheless, he turned to Grack, curious and grinning (when was he not?). "So tell me about your language? You have no idea how frustrating it is not to know what you're saying."(alternate title for this thread: a goof and two v angry not-so-goofs talk in the dead of night) @firefly , Inky

Ningai blinked trying to remember all the way back to when she was six cycles old. She remembered seeing Grack watching her, his eyes had been filled with anger and hatred. She had always assumed it had been towards her. Could she have been wrong this entire time? If she had then she had been holding a hatred for him all this time for nothing. He was cast out as well? The thought made her growl angrily how day they cast him out. Her claws dug into the earth beneath her. She would make them pay one day. "We'll make the pay for ever casting out out. One day we'll rule a tribe of our very own just wait and see those filthy old Monsutā's" She ripped what was left of her kill in half and tossed half to Grack. "Eat!"
Hmm such a strange language the more she heard it the more she wanted to learn it. "You must teach me friend, I have learned to commonly used language but not a tribe or herd specific language beside my own." Ningai smiled and gave a small laugh. Let Grack tell him about their old language called Traluhean. She was hungry so she went back to eating until there was nothing left of her half of the kill.
